In May Climate Change Minister Amber Rudd said she wanted to unleash a “solar revolution”. Instead she is planning to cut support for solar by 87%.

If these cuts go through:

  • a million fewer homes, schools, and businesses will benefit from solar panels by 2020;
  • our carbon emissions will be far higher; and
  • 20,000 people across the country will lose their jobs.

Already over a thousand people have lost their jobs in the last few weeks.

Over 8,000 people have emailed their MP to save solar energy. More and more Conservative MPs are breaking ranks to speak out against the planned cuts. Conservatives such as the London Mayor, Boris Johnson, and the former Climate Change Minister, Greg Barker, have criticised the plans in public.

With your help we can make sure solar energy flourishes, and dump dirty energy.

Take action

The government is holding a public consultation on the solar cuts, and your response is vital to ensure we get clean energy.

The deadline for responses is Friday 23 October.

Please reply to the consultation, it will only take a few minutes.
